Opening Session

Dr. Joi will walk you through what pleasure means in the context of sexual relationships. How it starts with self and being comfortable in your own body. She will then talk about the next steps including exploring pleasure with others and what that looks like (feeling safe, being open, nonjudgmental, and willing to be a giver and a team player.)

This session will create space for honest, engaging conversations about self-love, sexuality, sensuality, health, and wellness amongst cis-gender, heterosexual, Black men. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with experts, interact with each other, ask questions related to pleasure, satisfaction, partnership, etc., and broadly discuss the interconnection between mental, physical, and sexual health.

What’s Healthysexual? It means being proactive about protecting your sexual health— that includes honest conversations with your partners and your doctor, understanding your body and theirs, and understanding HIV prevention options, like PrEP medications.

Tei Pearson is a Disabled Army Veteran and Founder of “The Tei Pearson Experience”aka (TPX), an International Entertainment Agency that was created from Tei's belief that she was "born to suffer to serve". She also is the Co-Founder and Co-Host of one of the hottest V-Cast shows on Facebook & Youtube, "Candid Convos with Tei and Kiya".Tei uses her comedic personality to help herself and others laugh through their pain, despite the occasion. Trina Scott

For over twenty years, Trina has committed her professional life working in the area of human sexuality with a specific focus on HIV/AIDS/STI, community level mobilization, behavioral interventions, technical assistance/capacity building, positive youth development and racial/social justice. Currently, Trina works in research-based biopharmaceutical company focused on communities in Maryland and West Virginia. She is the former Program Manager at Kaiser Family Foundation, where she worked for 6 years overseeing community partnerships for the Greater Than AIDS campaign. Prior to Kaiser Family Foundation, she was with Advocates for Youth for 10 years where she managed the Health Equity and Youth Empowerment portfolio. She began her career at Whitman Walker as the Volunteer Coordinator, followed by Metro Teen AIDS as a Program Manager. Trina is also the co-foundress of the Women of Color Sexual Health Network (WOCSHN), a collective membership organization with a focus on the sexual and reproductive needs of women and gender expansive people of color. Trina is a native of Virginia and North Carolina respectively and moved to Washington, DC in 1995. She is a graduate of Howard University and Univ. of Maryland University College – and loves spending time with family and friends, traveling with her family, singing and finding new recipes to cook up in the kitchen. She resides in Upper Marlboro, MD

Dr. Joi

Dr. Joi has been a top performing Bedroom Kandi Boutique Consultant and trainer for almost a decade. She has worked as an Intimacy Coach with singles, couples, and undefined or complicated relationships through a fun, empowering and non-judgmental way. In 2022, she authored a workbook called, "My World: A Manual of Pleasure" that gives an appreciation of enhancing or exploring more pleasurable deserving experiences. Her workshops and events are like no other, she offers insight to how sexiness can be included in everything...why? because Everything's Sexy.

Alexandra Jordan

Alexandra Jordan is a Community Engagement Specialist with Viiv Healthcare with over 20 years of experience in patient advocacy, health education, sales and marketing. Alexandra is a proud alumnus of Spelman College where her interest in promoting health education first began. Driven by her love for community and passion for public health, Alexandra strives to promote sexual health education and raise awareness of HIV prevention. Alexandra firmly believes that knowledge is power, and information is meant to be shared.

Dantavious L.Hicks, M.S., LGPC

Dantavious Hicks is a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Maryland. In his current role, he serves as a Full-Time Therapist and Research Associate for Hurdle Health. Before entering the counseling profession, Dantavious served as a middle school and adult education mathematics teacher in Hawai’i. He also has experience coaching and training novice teachers through a culturally relevant, anti-racist education framework. In Spring of 2020 Dantavious earned the Johns Hopkins University School of Education’s Student Excellence Award for his research, service, and scholarship. Hicks’s research interests include broaching, multicultural orientation, social justice, anti-racism in counselor education, and identity development. His professional and scholarly endeavors have also resulted in graduate teaching positions and publications in The Journal of Counseling and Development and other counseling texts. His future aspirations include pursuing his doctoral studies in Counselor Education and Supervision.

Jerry L. Washington

Jerry L. Washington, Jr. is a seasoned and passionate public health professional with more than 10 years of experience in human services and personal care. He identifies as a black, gay cisgender man who is thriving from HIV. Mr. Washington has served North Carolina communities in Greenville, Raleigh, and surrounding areas for 8 years – working to connect those living with HIV/AIDS to care and create safe spaces for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) community. Mr. Washington has experience working for and navigating government agencies, community-based organizations, and universities. He has expanded his reach to the D.C. and Prince George's County area as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Linkage to Care Navigator, Wellness Ambassador Program, and the Sexual Health in Everything Coordinator, serving the cisgender men and women heterosexual community for Heart to Hand, Inc.
